A Best Friend

UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN- Weep not for me though I am gone into that gentle night. Grieve if you will but not for long upon my soul's sweet flight. I now am whole, I am at rest there is no need for tears; as with your love I was so blessed for all those many years. I wait for you my master friend so until, that time I plead. Uplift your heart with what we shared, as 'cherished' memories.

As some of you know in January our beloved 17 year old collie, Max passed away. This weekend it was time to spread his ashes and place him back into the yard that he loved so much.

My husband brought home a gardenia tree to plant in his name.

We cried, we prayed and we said "Welcome home".

We placed him in the soil and planted the tree.

Holly added soil with his food scoop

"Welcome Home Max, Welcome home."

I'm sorry for your passing. What a great way to honor him though! I've always wondered what I would do with our dogs when they pass (one is getting near). Thanks for sharing.

Listen Missy... if I cry anymore this week, I'm going to be dehydrated! ;)

That was a beautiful tribute to Max and I'm not trying to make light of it, but you had me crying again! Thank you for sharing it with us.

God Bless Max....

hugs,
rue

So sorry for your loss! Losing an animal can be much like losing a dear family member! That was a wonderful idea, planting the tree and combining Max's ashes. I'm sure that helped everyone deal with the loss a little better! Love the blog on your girls! They are adorable! ...and I can't wait to see when you complete the bedroom! The chandelier was so sweet and beautiful! :) ~Rhonda

Ohhhhhh sis what a beautiful tribute to your beloved pet..my own sweet furbaby is over 15 yrs old now and I cannot bear the thought of losing her...I am so sorry...I remember when you first told us about Max..my heart broke for you and your sweet family..I was reminded of a family pet we had when I was growing up....She had been with us forever and I had already married and moved out but I still always visited home all the time and I remember one night after eating supper with my parents..I was doing the dishes and I realized I hadn't fed 'Susie' her supper so I went to the back door to call her and then it dawned on me...I stood there frozen in my tracks as reality slapped me in the face and tears poured down my cheeks...dogs cats, horses, whatever the pet may be...they are a part of our family and forever a part of our hearts...God bless you sweet sis and may it give you great comfort knowing that you had so many years of love and memories with you beloved Max.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have often thought about what we would do with our sweet babies when their day comes. As you know we almost had to put Sammie down this week. It was not his time. Praise the lord! I love the idea you have shared with us in your time os sorrow. I hope his memories bring you lots of wonderful memories. Hugs! Terrie

I have a memorial garden outside for my sweet little Pepper who died two years ago. I haven't been able to bring myself to put his ashes out there yet. Just a steel dog sign with his name on it I had custom-designed from www.gardendeva.com. He is still in the little engraved box in my garden room, with his photo atop it. So sad, I know. But still with you in memory.
